DUTIES
Reporting to the Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, the Landscape and Grounds
Maintenance Worker performs a variety of landscape maintenance, installation and beautification
tasks to assist in the care of College grounds at Notre Dame and other near-by campuses. Under
the guidance of the Supervisor or Technicians, they will assist to install and care for woody plant
materials, perennials, annuals, turf and interior plant collections and follow-up watering. The
Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Worker will assist in the maintenance of paved surfaces
including walkways, roadways and parking lots. May assist in the application of herbicides or biopesticides necessary to control insects, rodents or weeds. Following the Supervisor or
Technicians lead, the Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Worker will assist in the removal of
snow and application of traction materials to and from paved surfaces during winter months. In
times of operational need, may perform other landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks as
assigned, including assistance with various event set-ups and tear-downs. Overtime and early
starts should be expected when snow clearing is required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Post-secondary certificate in Greenspace Management or related field; an equivalent
combination of education and experience
• Experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping
• Experience operating maintenance equipment such as mowing units, tractors, loaders, etc.
• Experience operating snow clearing equipment such as plows, loaders and snow hauling
trucks
• Ability to self- initiate a task, work independently and as part of a team
• Strong accountability skills
• Good communication and customer service skills

ASSETS
• Manitoba Pesticide License, Minimum: Core and Landscape/Golf Course
• Completion of Manitoba Provincial Arbourist Exam
• Knowledge and experience in Horticulture
• Grounds maintenance equipment operation experience (summer and/or winter)
• Strong work ethic
• Collegial personality (works well with others)
• Experience performing minor repairs to grounds maintenance equipment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
• This position may be required to work overtime
• This position is subject to audiometric assessments
• Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
• This position requires a Class 5 drivers license and willingness to obtain a Class 3 drivers
license after hire.
• This position requires availability to work any time including overnight especially during the
winter season
