Academic Awards

The Manitoba Nursery Landscape Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the interests of horticulture and landscape professionals. MBNLA’s members are businesses and individuals committed to promoting awareness of environmental horticulture and upholding the highest standards of the nursery and landscape industry. This award is part of MBNLA’s scholarship program which works to achieve these goals by:

  • Promoting the professional development of individuals already working in the profession.
  • Attracting and encouraging quality students who will make valuable contributions to the profession.

Landscape Horticulturist Award (Top Student Award)

A $300 award is available annually (for each level offered) for an Apprentice Landscape Horticulturist student with the highest Grade Point Average. The winning students will be contacted by MBNLA once all final grades are finalized. Deadline March 1st of each year. Online Application Form

Top Journeyperson Award

A $300 award is available for the Apprentice Landscape Horticulturist student that scores the highest mark on the Red Seal Final Exam. Open to Apprentices who are writing the test for the first time and not when the exam is challenged. Deadline June 1st of each year. Online Application Form


RRC Awards

Landscape Horticulturist Award

A $1000 award is available annually for an Apprentice Landscape Horticulturist student (2nd, 3rd or 4th level) that demonstrates exceptional interest and contribution to the green profession in Manitoba. This award is meant to cover the registration cost and other expenses for the next level of the Red Seal program. Those interested in being considered should submit an application form accompanied by one-page letter outlining their commitment to a green profession, contribution to program related activities and participation in recognized green profession related associations, as well as verification of their academic standing from the most recently completed level. Landscape Horticulturist Skills Canada Award

A $1000 award will be presented annually to a Landscape Horticulturist team (two students) who will be travelling to compete in the Landscape Gardening event at the Skills Canada National Competition. This award is meant to assist with the travel expenses and to compliment the $500 wage subsidy available from the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA). Recipient selection will be made by program faculty. Link to RRC Awards.
